(Titus Crow #2)
Following on directly from the events of The Burrowers Beneath, it is shown that rather than be killed in the attack by Ithaqua and his minions, Titus Crow managed to escape by unlocking the code of the time/space machine De Marigny's Clock. He spends some time lost in the cosmos and pursued by both Hounds of Tindalos and Ithaqua, before crashing his ship onto a planet inhabited by a lone robot.
Titus Crow having suffered horrendous injuries, the robot reconstructs Crow's body and mind using mechanical components and memories stored in the Clock, before departing to once again search for a way home.
