This Belt Buckle depicting Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit of the Shire, was made by Lewis Buckle Co., Inc. in 1975 and is sized for up to a 1-1/2" wide man's belt, although it could be unisex. It is of brass and in excellent condition.

The Hobbit , by J. R. Tolkein, is a precursor to Lord of the Rings . An excerpt, along with the company name and date, is on the back. It reads:

"By some curious chance one morning long ago in the quiet of the world, when t was less noise and more green and the hobbits were still numerous and prosperous, and Bilbo Baggins was sitting at his door after breakfast smoking an ingenious long wooden pipe that reached nearly down to his wooly toes (neatly brushed)--Gandalf came by"
