Condition: Very Good. No reading creases to spine. Volume 1 also shows a red "X" stamped to bottom page edge, probably a remainder mark. Normal shelf wear on covers. Back cover upper right corner has price tag residue.

This trade paperback volume begins with an essay of 51 pages by editor Ashley describing the history of the sci-fi "pulp" magazines during the period 1926-1935. And the final 20 pages comprise "appendices": a checklist of works by author; a summary of magazine issues; a glossary of magazine editors, and "Notes on Key Cover Artists." The bulk of this issue comprises representative stories reprinted from the science fiction magazines of the era.
